While Kybella® is primarily made of deoxycholic acid, it also contains a protein that causes excessive swelling.

What Can I Expect During my
Kybella Treatment?
Your deoxycholic acid injections will be performed by Dr. Jennifer Armstrong in our state-of-the-art facility. Before your deoxycholic acid treatment begins, a topical anesthetic may be applied to your treatment area, typically underneath the chin. Once numb, Dr. Armstrong will begin carefully and strategically make a series of deoxycholic acid injections into the fat underneath the chin. The entire treatment process generally takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Dr. Armstrong and her team of medical experts may recommend a series of two to six treatments spaced several weeks apart to achieve your desired results.
What Can I Expect After my
Kybella Treatment?
While deoxycholic acid treatments cause less swelling than Kybella® treatments, swelling, tenderness, and mild bruising around your treated areas are to be expected. Patients typically report returning back to their normal daily activities, including work, immediately following their deoxycholic acid treatments. Because the active properties in deoxycholic acid take time to melt away and eliminate fat from your treated area, it may take up to twelve weeks to see your desired results. Patients generally report seeing the full results of their treatment about three to six months following their final treatment. Once the treated fat cells under the chin have been eliminated, they will never be replaced with new cells. This means the results of your deoxycholic acid treatments have the potential to last a lifetime.
