What is Botox®?

Botox is often referred to as a neurotoxin, as its chemical composition temporarily relaxes the muscles in the treated areas to reduce repeated muscle movements caused by facial expressions.

This differs from dermal fillers like Juvéderm® and Teoxane which simply replenish volume in the skin that has thinned over time.

Celebrity doctor Dr. Jennifer Armstrong and her team may also recommend using Botox® to treat hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. Botox® is best used to treat large or prominent muscles prone to a lot of movement, such as the masseter muscle along the jaw, the calf muscles, and the trapezius muscle along the neck. The goal is to shrink the treated muscle through a process called atrophy. Atrophied muscles appear smaller than normal which can be aesthetically pleasing and may help with pain and discomfort.

What Can I Expect During my Botox® Treatment?

Your Botox® treatment will be performed by Dr. Jennifer Armstrong in our state-of-the-art facility. Before your Botox treatment begins, a topical anesthetic may be applied to your treatment area. This is to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible throughout your treatment. Once numb, Dr. Armstrong will begin carefully and strategically making a series of Botox injections into your desired treatment area. The entire treatment process typically takes less than 20 minutes to complete, making it the perfect treatment to get between errands or while on a lunch break.

What Can I Expect After my Botox® Treatment?

Most patients don’t report much discomfort following Botox; however, mild swelling, tenderness, and bruising are normal and typically resolve on their own within a day or two of treatment. Because the compounds in Botox need time to take effect within the body, you may not see the results of your Botox treatment until three to 14 days later. The results of your Botox treatment will typically last about three to six months, so Dr. Armstrong and her expert medical team may recommend regular treatments every three to four months to maintain your desired look.

Am I a Good Candidate for Botox®?

If you are unhappy with the fine lines and wrinkles around the upper third of your face, Botox may be right for you. Ideal candidates for Botox are in general good health and have realistic expectations of their results. How Much Does Botox® Cost?
