What is Laser Acne Treatment?
At Armstrong MD, our laser skin resurfacing system works to gently remove the uppermost layers of skin that cause uneven skin tone and texture. What Can I Expect During my Laser
Acne Treatment?
Your laser acne scar treatments will be performed by Dr. Jennifer Armstrong in our state-of-the-art facility. Before your treatment begins, a topical anesthetic may be applied to your treatment area. This is just to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible throughout your treatment. Once numb, Dr. Armstrong will begin applying short, quick bursts of laser technology along the skin. Most patients find the feeling of the laser similar to the sensation of a rubber band being snapped against the skin. Most treatment sessions typically take between 10 and 20 minutes to complete.
What Can I Expect After my Laser
Acne Treatment?
While some patients report feeling mild discomfort throughout their treatments, most patients report having little to no discomfort following their treatment. Itching, redness, and tenderness following your laser skin resurfacing treatment are normal and typically resolve on their own within a few days of treatment. Lighter and moderate laser treatments may only cause redness and mild flaking of the skin for three to five days, while deeper treatments may require up to two weeks for the skin to completely heal. Dr. Armstrong typically recommends a series of three moderate treatments spaced several weeks apart to reap the benefits of a deep treatment without the lengthy recovery period. She may also recommend using medical-grade skincare products to soothe your skin throughout your recovery period and enhance the results of your treatment.
