What is AviClear?
AviClear is a medication-free alternative to invasive medications, like Accutane®. When sebum, bacteria, and dead skin cells clog the hair follicles in your skin, an inflammatory response occurs that produces acne. Selectively targeting the sebaceous glands can treat current acne and reduce the frequency of future breakouts on the face.

What Can I Expect During my
AviClear Treatment?
Dr. Jennifer Armstrong typically recommends three AviClear treatments, spaced about one month apart, for long-lasting acne relief. During your treatment, Dr. Armstrong uses a handheld device to deliver energy directly into your sebaceous glands. The sensation from the treatment feels similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin, but it isn’t overly painful. AviClear requires no anesthetic. Instead, the device’s AviCool™ tip cools the skin to improve your comfort and reduce irritation.
What Can I Expect After my
AviClear Treatment?
Immediately after treatment, your acne may appear red and swollen. These side effects typically subside within a few minutes. Patients rarely experience blistering or crusting like they might with other laser treatments. You can resume your normal activities right away without any social downtime.
In AviClear’s clinical studies, about 80% of patients saw at least half of their acne subside within three months of their third treatment. The vast majority experienced significant improvements within six months.
Am I a Good Candidate for AviClear?
Dr. Armstrong may recommend AviClear if you have severe or persistent acne breakouts that haven’t responded to topical treatments or oral medications. AviClear is also ideal for those who struggle with the side effects of isotretinoin, which has been linked to dry skin and eyes, depression, birth defects, and even liver inflammation.
